In this Episode of the Personal Success Workshop we discuss more about daily routines and how they can impact your life. Your everyday routines can stop you in your tracks to success or help boost you to reach your goals. Lets discover how we can create good routines and avoid bad ones.
We start of the show with some quotes that relate to our topic of Routines:
Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success. – PABLO PICASSO
I keep to this routine every day without variation. The repetition itself becomes the important thing; it’s a form of mesmerism. I mesmerize myself to reach a deeper state of mind. – HARUKI MURAKAMI
Order and simplification are the first steps toward the mastery of a subject. – THOMAS MANN
What do we mean when we say ” Routines “. Routines are the daily activities and habits that we all repeat on a daily basis. The robotic activities you do every day like turning on the coffee pot and taking a shower in the morning. Routines may sound boring, but the Routines that you build into your everyday life, from waking up early for a workout or practicing guitar for 30 minutes every day can be the difference between complete failure, stagnation & defeat or slowly building momentum and getting the ball rolling to achieving what you want out of your life.
We go back to Admiral William McRaven’s speech at the University of Texas, where McRaven tells the tale of how a young man was shaped into a US SEAL starting with the simplest and most basic routine of making his bed every morning. The pride and sense of accomplishment he got from making that bed every morning helped motivate and encourage him to complete the next task for that day.
Why are routines so important, why should you care about waking up early every morning? Routines drive change and they shape your entire life. They are often lost in the shuffle of our minds and not given much thought until they slowly chip away at our lives in destructive ways. If you want to reach a goal, you have to remember that this is a marathon up a long steep hill and not a sprint over flat ground. You are going to run into roadblocks, but you have to be in it for the long haul. Don’t stress out on the day to day, you have to take that step back and look at the 30,000 feet view of your life and make small changes to your daily routines.
Every morning at your peak state you must ” Eat Those Frogs ” . Yes the big, ugly nasty tasks that you procrastinate about doing so you can avoid them. In the morning your brain and body are the most active and are ready to work. You should use this time to your benefit and start knocking out those big tasks for the day, you will also learn how to optimize your time and energy you have available and be more efficient.
To get a better start on your morning routines you should try writing down what you wish to accomplish for that day and try to visualize the outcome of getting those things done. A lot of people underestimate the power of writing things down or creating a check off list and having a daily planner. It’s amazing how much your productivity will go up when your prioritize and list your tasks in order. Another great way to start the day is being able to visualize the impact of getting things done. How great you will feel knowing that your house is clean, or how your body feels after a workout. Try to make this a daily routine to visualize yourself after you complete the things you want to do. This can help you relieve stress, regain focus, and boost your self-confidence and mood.
We encourage you to review your daily routines and see how you can make a difference in your life to help you reach your goals.
